Apply to Conduct a Safety Day in Your Community
If you are interested in conducting a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day for your school or community, carefully read all of the information found under the What We Do tab. This material spells out what is required of you and the volunteers you recruit. Applications are due on July 15 for Safety Day events to be held the following calendar year.

Volunteer at a Local Safety Day
If there is a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day planned near you, contact the coordinator to see how you can help. Coordinator contact information is found under the Safety Days tab. Most Safety Days need volunteers to help with one or more of the following:
  • Serve on the planning committee.
  • Teach one of the classes.
  • Be a group leader, supervising 8 to 15 participants throughout the day.
  • Prepare and serve lunch.
  • Help with pre-registration and registration.
  • Help with mailings.
  • Help stuff take-home bags
  • Help setup or takedown the site.
  • Provide farm equipment or other items needed for demonstrations.
  • Provide storage for all supplies.
  • Help publicize Safety Day through local media.
  • Print and distribute posters and/or flyers.
 
Help Fund a Local Safety Day
Most Safety Days need cash or in-kind donations to pay for the following:
  • Travel for the coordinator to attend a training session for each year they conduct a Safety Day (mileage or airfare; as well as hotel and food expenses)
  • Rental fees for site
  • Food (usually one meal, as well as beverages and snacks)
  • Opening or closing speaker fees
  • Printing
  • Postage
  • Items for take-home bags
  • Supplies
  • Rental fees for Audiovisual equipment, microphones, etc.
