2010 Projected Safety Days Information

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances that can affect community events, some of the following numbers will change periodically.

  • 385 Progressive Agriculture Safety Days® are planned in 36 states, 6 Canadian provinces, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
  • These safety days could reach 72,000 participants with the help of 17,500 adult and older teen volunteers.
  • 438 coordinators trained at one of the following:
    • 18 training sessions in the U.S.
    • 6 training session in Canada
    • 1 training via web and satellite television (for experienced coordinators only)
  • 2010 is the:
    • 16th year of the program in the United States
    • 9th year in Canada
    • 6th year in the U.S. Virgin Islands
    • 5th year in American Samoa

2009 Safety Days Information

  • 381 Progressive Agriculture Safety Days held in 38 states, 7 Canadian Provinces, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa
  • More than 72,000 participants
  • Age of participants
    • 79% were ages 8 to 13
    • 15% were younger than 8
    • 3% were teens or adults
  • Special audiences
    • 0.8% were migrant children
    • 2.2% were Anabaptist (Amish, Hutterite, Mennonites, etc.)
  • 71% of the safety days were held as school events, with the other 29% being held for the entire community
  • Local support:
    • 18,140 volunteers worked 146,929 hours
    • 5,982 individuals, businesses or organizations donated $237,543 plus another $348,443 in in-kind contributions
