Empowering Communities: Alabama Extension Drives Tremendous Growth for Safety Days
In 2024, Alabama volunteers coordinated ten Progressive Agriculture Safety Days®. Thanks to a strong partnership with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service (ACES), that number more than tripled in 2025, expanding to forty Safety Days across the state and tying with Iowa as the lead state where a PAF Safety Day is held!
Recognizing the program’s powerful impact on children and families, ACES Assistant Directors for Field Operations hosted in-person trainings at four locations statewide. Through these sessions, 103 Extension agents and community leaders were trained as Safety Day coordinators, equipping more communities to deliver hands-on, life-saving safety education.
Altogether, 4,128 participants took part in age-appropriate, interactive lessons on safety and health—supported by 482 dedicated volunteers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and passion for protecting youth in their communities.
Dr. Samuel Roberson, County Extension Director for Talladega County, shared that Talladega County Extension hosted a large Progressive Agriculture Safety Day on November 18–19, featuring sixteen safety and health stations for all third-grade students in the Talladega County School System. “We anticipate having a significant impact on the safety awareness among our young people in this county,” said Dr. Roberson.
